Clinical Research Translation Services

Specialist linguistic support for research protocols, participant information, informed consent materials and clinical reports. Bring the right terminology and reading level to every audience in your study.

01 / research content

Different documents. Different readers.

Clinical research connects investigators, healthcare professionals and study participants. Each group needs information it can understand and use. Translation requirements should reflect the document’s purpose, the intended readers and the terminology established for the study.

Protocols & study documentation

Research protocols and study documentation call for consistent scientific and medical terminology. Reference materials, approved study terminology and related documents give linguists the context needed to preserve the meaning of the source.

Participant information & informed consent

Participant information and informed consent materials need clear language for their intended readership. We translate the supplied content according to the agreed terminology and style, while keeping the distinction between linguistic review and approval of the study materials.

Questionnaires & clinical reports

We translate patient questionnaires, clinical reports and related research content. Tell us whether a questionnaire uses an established or licensed translation, or requires a separate validation process, so that the quotation reflects the linguistic work actually needed. Translation alone does not establish measurement equivalence or validation.

Interviews & research transcripts

Our services extend to qualitative healthcare research, including patient interviews and research transcripts. Intended use matters: a transcript for an internal research team may need a different terminology and style approach from material intended for publication.

02 / workflow

A workflow built around your study materials

1. Define the assignment

Share the source and target languages, document types, intended readers, source-file formats and preferred delivery date. Identify related materials that must use the same terminology, and tell us about your internal review process.

2. Prepare terminology & references

Available glossaries, approved reference documents and previous translations help establish the language of the study. For recurring work, translation memories and terminology resources support consistency across related assignments.

3. Translate & review

We select professional linguists for the subject matter and language combination. Independent linguistic revision and additional checks can be included according to the agreed project specifications. Questions about the source are coordinated through project management.

4. Deliver for your approval

We deliver the translated files in the agreed format for your internal review. Feedback and approved terminology can inform subsequent revisions and future assignments. Confirm which source version and review comments apply before an update begins.

03 / responsibilities

Linguistic expertise within your research process

vertaalkabaal! provides translation and linguistic project coordination. Clinical, legal and ethical assessment, ethics committee approval and final authorization of study documents remain with the responsible research organization and its designated specialists.

A translation or linguistic revision does not replace clinical assessment, informed consent procedures or a questionnaire validation process. If your study requires a particular review or validation method, identify it before the project is quoted rather than assuming it is part of a standard translation assignment.

  • Confirm the intended audience for each document.
  • Supply the approved source version and available terminology.
  • Identify internal reviewers and any specific linguistic review requirements.
  • Agree how feedback and later source changes will be handled.

Clinical research translation questions

Can you coordinate several target languages?

Yes. We coordinate multilingual projects through our international network. Language combinations and specialist resources are confirmed for each assignment, alongside the document types and delivery arrangements.

Can you work with our approved study terminology?

Yes. Available glossaries, reference materials and approved translations can be incorporated into the workflow. These are particularly useful when protocols, participant materials and reports refer to the same concepts.

Does translation include ethical approval or questionnaire validation?

No. Translation is a linguistic service. Ethical, legal and clinical approval, and any required validation process, must be managed by the responsible specialists. We agree the scope of linguistic review before work starts.

What should we send for a quotation?

Start with the document types, source and target languages, formats, intended readers and desired deadline. Do not include patient information in an initial email. We can discuss an appropriate workflow for confidential source material.
